Thoughts On The High Road
If you were under the impression this would be easy, you've not been paying attention. I'm sure you have heard resistance is a marathon. It is also an uphill climb through rocks and thorns. Once you rise above the lies the air is sweet. It is important to remember not only who you are and how you want to represent yourself, but also the resistance as a whole. We all stand together. Pettiness is easy, can even be a sick kind of fun. However, it will drag you down, it will poison your intentions, and tarnish any good you put out.
Let no man pull you so low as to hate him. - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Our greatest tools in this battle are active, informed resistance and each other. We are all brothers and sisters of our mother earth. If we are truly enlightened then we must learn to lead with love, to speak with purpose, and to care for one another always. I have hope we can turn back this tide of radical nationalism and greed. Violence, hate, and intolerance can only destroy. Every one of us has a spark of creation. Never let anyone douse your fire. If you want change run for office. If you can't run then vote, phonebank, knock doors, and donate. Silence is acceptance. Silence is complicity. Speak up, this is
Nobody ever drowned in his own sweat. - Ann Landers
Roll up your sleeves and get to work. America needs you.
We humans have an amazing ability to justify anything, as long as it means we get what we want. We are willing to lie, cheat, steal, manipulate, whatever it might take to get the results. Some do it knowingly & without a care. While others are seemingly oblivious to the destruction they have left in their wake. In truth misery indeed loves company. I try each day to be a better version of me than the day before.
With this in mind I practice mindfulness. I question me often. I strive to always be honest with myself. Especially about my motives. It's not ok to hurt someone else to make myself feel better. It's not ok to blame my feelings or actions on anyone but myself. I am only what I was, what was done to me if I allow it to be my truth. No one owes me anything, I however do owe me, love, respect, kindness, my best effort. Like so many I have a lonely empty place inside me, I cannot hope to fill it if I am not willing to work for it. I'm absolutely worth the work. So are each & every one of you.
